Stem cell therapy [SCT]

This is the current hot topic in the medical field with wide variety of views. A lot of research is still on-going all over the world. This therapy has the potential therapeutic benefits in some cases of MND, which are still being studied in-depth. Stem cell therapy is a ray of hope for MND patients and with more research someday it may find a cure in future.

SCT is of 3 types

  1. Embryonic SCT – This is banned in India due to ethical issues and side effects.

  2. Umbilical cord SCT- This is allowed but it’s very expensive.

  3. Adult SCT – This is approved in India and is safe.

We request that if you are thinking about tapping this new SCT, be completely informed in details about the procedure, side effects, complications, benefits, doctor’s credentials, the results obtained by that doctor, whether the centre has registration and approval from national committee etc.
